Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Detour Putter Specifications
It is just what you would expect: part Newport, part Detour. A miniature version (about half the size) of the Detour’s sight curve has been bolted on to the back of the Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Detour Putter. The result: a heel-shafted, toe-hang blade putter with a built-in stroke and alignment aid. Here are some specifications about the putter.
Look and Feel
The Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Detour Putter helps the player maintain this arc-shaped putting stroke by incorporating the curved line into the putter’s design. Scotty Cameron has been on a bit of a trip lately in the mind of some, which pushed his belief to the forefront with the odd-looking “Detour” putter. It features a T-6 6061 Aircraft Aluminum face and body with a 303 Stainless Steel frame and back-weight.
Design
The Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport 2 combines the classic style of the Newport putters with the Detour design and weighting features. Its arched “Detour” design encourages the putting stroke to move along the proper path for optimal performance. Its deep and low center of gravity reduces skidding and produces a truer roll. Relying on over 14 years of Putter Studio R&D, Scotty has determined that the best players in the world use a putting stroke that goes inside the target line on the backswing, square to the ball at impact, and then inside the line again on the follow-through. The Detour putter combines the design of the Newport with the addition of a supportive weighted extension at the back of the putter head to help keep the putter’s stroke on line.
Advantages
Like most Cameron putters, the Newport Detours have two characteristics that help arc-stroke putters: toe flow (or toe hang) and a shaft towards the heel (Scotty is quick to point out that true “heel-shafted” putters, like the Wilson 8802, are quite different than the heel biased putters he creates). Both the toe hang and the heel-ish shaft aid players in releasing the putter head through impact.
The Newport 2 Detour is made of 303 stainless steel with a back-weight. The back-weight is a great feature for any golfer struggling to make a winning putt. It adds just enough weight to keep the putter low throughout the swing. The weight successfully distributes weight between all the corners increasing overall stability.
Conclusion
Overall, I really like the Solid feel of this Newport 2 Detour Putterbecause it don’t skid or bounce. Amazing tour style looks and feel. A classic blade style putter that has Customizable weights, You simply cant get a better blade style putter. Blows my old Odyssey Black series out of the water. Simply put, nothing beats a Scotty Cameron in look and feel.
