Nowadays, at the golf clubs market, Ping enjoys a good fame and recently comes out the new Ping G20, maybe some people would like to think that the Ping’s G20 Driver is said to be the new, improved version of the highly successful G15 driver. Do you believe the hype? Today I will make a big comparision between the two golf clubs sets to help you.
The Ping G15 Driver:
the G15 is a 460cc titanium driver meant for golfers seeking maximum forgiveness. The driver attains a higher MOI by lengthening the head from front to back. Additionally, a 7% larger face increases ball speed and provides consistency across the entire hitting surface. Lastly, weight savings from the ultra thin crown are positioned as an external sole weight to optimize the center of gravity for higher trajectories and reduced spin.
The new PING TFC 149D shaft allows for a five gram increase in Ping G15 Driver head mass without increasing swingweight or overall weight. All of these seemingly small changes should result in higher ball speeds and an increase in MOI.
Ping G20 Driver:
The ping g20 driver is a 460cc clubhead made from Ti 8-1-1, a lower-density, lighter alloy material. It’s high strength-to-weight ratio increases the MOI and allows additional weight to be strategically placed on the head. Large, variable-thickness in the Ping G20 Driver’s face increases MOI across the hitting surface and generates faster ball speeds for increased forgiveness and power.
External weighting helps launch the forgiving ping g20 driver with a high, low spinning ball flight for maximum distance and accuracy. PING’s proprietary high-balance-point TFC 169D shaft creates a higher MOI and generates faster ball speeds enabling golfers to swing a clubhead with more mass at the same speed, for longer, straighter drives.
Ping G20 Driver vs Ping G15 Driver
Ping took the shaping of the G15 and made it better in the G20. There is more weight towards the back of the club, and a lower center of gravity. These two shifts create a higher launch and lower spin right than its G15 predecessor.
The G20 driver has a heavier head than (7 grams more than standard) for greater force at impact. Additional backweighting and a more elongated face shore up misses. (Ping “shaved” the head in the low toe area to meet the 460cc size limit.) The reconfigured clubhead — 5 percent higher moment of inertia on heel or toe hits — combines with a light, 45.75-inch “high-balance point” shaft (TFC 169D or TFC 169D Tour) to boost clubhead speed and, thus, distance. Specifically, the TFC 169D shaft has more flexible tip and butt sections for softer feel.
